I shot the Eastern PA CASA fundraiser run on Sunday morning and the skies were pretty gray and threatening. Thankfully, the rain held off until the race was over. These cute little kids were there to watch their dad run and pulled out the umbrellas when it started raining. They were having a great time and I couldn’t resist getting a couple of shots of them.

As I’m sure you can imagine, it took about 20 minutes to get everyone situated and ready for this shot. Because we were outside on a sunny day, there wasn’t anywhere large enough to get this shot that would have been in shade so I had to make the best of the direct sunlight and shadows from surrounding trees. And it was impossible to get this large of a group with off-camera flash so I couldn’t turn them away from the sun. They all were great sports and they’ll be happy for a photo with them all included.

It was a beautiful day for an outdoor party on Saturday. People came from as far away as California and France to celebrate the 80th birthday of a beloved brother, father, grandfather and uncle. People started arriving around noon and caught up on family connections for the next six hours over food, wine and lots of laughter. It was a joy to be around all these wonderful people. Thanks so much for allowing me to shoot the event.
